Pupil council and champions

At Crudgington

We prioritise our pupils’ voices

ensuring they feel connected to the academy and empowered to influence their own experiences as well as those of their peers. Through various councils, groups, and leadership initiatives, we champion both national and local community themes.

Student council

The student council is a committed group of pupils who have been elected by their peers. They act as representatives and a voice for their peers in bringing forward and discussing academy issues as well as raising money for both our academy and selected charities.

The council meet regularly and discuss issues such as:

  • Uniform
  • Ways to improve playtimes/lunchtimes
  • School lunches
  • Improving the academy environment
  • Linked work with the local community

Our student council are passionate about supporting our school and the wider community.

House Captains

House captains are appointed at the start of the academic year by the deputy headteacher. These pupils are selected from our year 6 cohort and are chosen based on their commitment to our academy values.

House captains represent their houses at various points during the year:

  • Weekly assemblies to celebrate the house points awarded.
  • To share individual achievements of those pupils in their house.

To promote interhouse sports competitions and support with the running of sports day.

Safeguarding SQUAD

Our Safeguarding Squad is a dedicated pupil group that is responsible for highlighting the importance of safety across our academy.

The Safeguarding Squad takes responsibility for meeting with senior staff to discuss ways in which our pupils’ safety and wellbeing can be promoted. At points during the year, the Safeguarding Squad meet with our safeguarding and health and safety governors to carryout safety walks around the academy campus.

As part of their responsibilities, the Safeguarding Squad:

  • lead assemblies on the subject of safeguarding
  • monitor playground behaviour and conduct to ensure that pupils are using equipment safely
  • update our Safeguarding Squad display to match ongoing projects / themes

We are proud of our Safeguarding Squad and appreciate the efforts of the squad in helping to ensure that Crudgington Primary remains a happy, safe, and nurturing place for our pupils to learn and grow.
